Beyond the Peñón, the Calpe coastline hides two spots that only exist for those who arrive by boat. The Llop Marí Caves — or Cueva Foradada — are a series of sea caves at the base of the Morro de Toix cliffs, accessible only with a small vessel like the Josephine. North of the Peñón, Cala del Racó offers shallow, clear water ideal for snorkelling and a white sandy bottom with seagrass that shelters red mullet, cuttlefish and sea bream.
Heading south from Calpe, the landscape changes dramatically: the cliffs become lower and the Benissa and Moraira coastline appears, with small coves reachable on a full-day charter. The Calpe Salt Flats, a protected Natural Area, are visible from the sea as soon as you leave port: in spring and autumn it is common to spot pink flamingos from the deck — always a detail that surprises passengers.
The summer wind pattern in Calpe is similar to the rest of the Costa Blanca: light levante in the mornings and occasional poniente in the afternoons. The Calpe bay is well protected from northerly winds, making it a comfortable departure point even when the sea is slightly rough in more exposed areas.
